Sacramental Preparation

The Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation are public celebrations of the Catholic faith and are of utmost importance in the life of the Church. Preparation programs for the parents and their children receiving Sacraments of First Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Communion are hosted by the Parish. The purpose of these sessions is to instruct parents and their children on the meaning of the sacraments, their history, importance, and value, as well as to familiarize parents with their role in the program.
The Sacramental Preparation Team assist in the period leading up to the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation by assisting parents and their children to prepare for the sacraments including the preparation session nights, retreats, rehearsals and the actual days of the Sacraments.
While no no experience is necessary to help with this ministry you should be a person of faith as well as a faithful member of the community. You should have a basic understanding of Church teaching, are able to communicate well with children and be willing to learn.
Time commitment varies as some volunteer for one sacrament, others for all three. Sacramental season starts in the fall and usually runs from October through to June.

You can email any questions to sacraments@stalbertthegreat.ca and our Sacramental Coordinator will connect with you.
