Becoming a Catholic

Home / Becoming a Catholic

Thinking about joining the Catholic Church?…Great!  Now what?

Many adults entering the Catholic Church, or those just thinking about it, follow a process known as RCIA — the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.

RCIA is a journey of conversion within the living community of faith.  It is designed to educate converts in the Catholic faith and prepare them to receive the sacraments of the Catholic Church.

The RCIA inquiry stage is the starting place for adults who are thinking about entering the Catholic Church.  It gives an opportunity to explore who Jesus Christ is, and the fundamental foundations of the Catholic faith.

RCIA is for:

Adults who have not received Baptism.
Adults who have been Baptized but not raised in the faith.

Adults prepare for initiation through a process of prayer, reflection on the word of God, and teachings of the Church.

Participating in the RCIA process creates an opportunity to build a relationship with God and experience the rich traditions of the Catholic faith.
