In St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, it states “If they were all one part, where would the body be? But as it is there are many parts, yet one body” (1 COR 12:18-20). What does this teach us as Christian stewards? It shows us that we all have equal dignity and worth in God’s sight, and that if God sees us as equally precious, we should view each other in this same light. It teaches us to humbly recognize our own gifts as well as the giftedness of every member of our parish family. And, while God designed us to be ultimately dependent on Him, it seems He has also designed us to need each other! This is part of the beauty and richness of a stewardship way of life. No one person can “do it all” in life — whether in family life or parish life. But God does not ask us to do it all. He simply asks us to share the gifts and talents we do have in the season of life we find ourselves right now. It might feel uncomfortable at first. But the good news it you don’t have to do it all. Do your part, let your brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ do theirs, and know that the Spirit of the Lord is upon us all as we live out this stewardship way of life. ©Catholic Stewardship Consultants www.CatholicSteward.com

Sunday of the Word of God - Jan 26
As part of the Jubilee of Hope, this Sixth Annual Sunday of the Word of God (January 26) invites us to reflect on the theme: “I hope in your Word” (Ps 119:74). In Jesus, the living Word of God, we find our ultimate hope. God’s presence is inseparable from His Word, offering an unfailing source of hope and renewal. In this year of hopeful Jubilee, open the Scriptures and rediscover the life-changing power of God’s promise.

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 2nd THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD & THE WORLD DAY OF CONSECRATED LIFE 5:00PM CANDLE MASS
JOIN US on Sunday Feb 2nd, at our 5:00PM Holy Mass as we host the Religious in our Community and celebrate The Feast Day of The Presentation of the Lord & The World Day of Consecrated Life with a candle Mass celebrated by Bishop McGrattan.
The call to Consecrated life is a profound gift to both the individual, the communities of Consecrated life, and the broader faith community of the local Church. Within our Diocese, we are blessed to have celibate Consecrated persons, each living out their unique vocations with deep devotion to the Lord in imitation of His Gospel way of life and the spirituality of their institutes. These include Religious Brothers and Priests, Religious Sisters, a Diocesan Hermit, other Consecrated men and women, as well as candidates for Consecrated Virginity.
Consecrated life is a way of profound love and service to Christ and His Church. Through their commitment to the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience according to their particular call from God, they contribute uniquely to the life of the local and universal Church. Their dedication not only deepens their own spiritual life but also enriches our Diocese with their witness of faith, service, and prayer. We are deeply grateful for their presence, which continually inspires and strengthens our Catholic community.
You are welcome to join the various Consecrated persons in their celebration on February 2nd every year, where their shared commitment to Christ is honoured during the World Day for Consecrated Life.

2024 Donation Update from Calgary Diocese
The Calgary Diocese is aware that the federal government has announced its intention to amend the Income Tax Act to extend the 2024 charitable donation deadline to February 28, 2025. However, please note this change has not yet been passed into legislation. Therefore, December 31, 2024, remains the final day to ensure donors receive a 2024 charitable tax credit. To avoid any potential disruption in the event the proposed legislation is not enacted, the Diocese recommend donors make their donations as follows: - Mailed Donations: Must be postmarked by Canada Post on or before December 31st. Given the recent Canada Post strike and potential delays, we strongly encourage donations to be made online.
- Online Donations: Tax receipts will reflect the date of the donation. Donations made after 21:59 MT on December 31st will be considered donations for the 2025 tax year.
- Dropped Off Donations: Donations must be received at the Diocese/Parish before end of work day on December 31st. Please ensure that the envelope is date stamped by the account/parish office when it was received and must be kept with the deposit in case of a CRA audit.
Any donations received on or after Jan 1, 2025, will apply to the 2025 tax year.
|
