Our Gospel today conveys how we are called to imitate Jesus through humility and service.
We are reminded that the Son of God became man and surrendered His life into the hands of men so that we might be saved. The life of Jesus was centered around His Father’s mission and the service of mankind. And this is how we ought to live — in imitation of Christ.
James and John wanted to ensure they had a spot in heaven with Jesus. They were concerned about themselves in that moment — “Grant that in your glory we may sit one at your right and the other at your left.”
Jesus quickly reminded them, “whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.”
Our culture constantly encourages us to do what we can to get ahead in this world, to do what feels good, no matter the effects — that power, authority, and wealth should be our goals in life.
Our faith offers us something different and fulfilling — a life of humility and service. As Christian stewards, we are called to live our lives in service of God and neighbor, just as Jesus did. Our life is not about us. It is about fulfilling God’s glorious plan for each one of us.
So, we must ask ourselves, are we living out God’s plan for our lives? Is my life centered on Christ and those around me or is it centered on me?
It can be difficult to know God’s plan for our entire life. He sees the whole picture — we only see the now. All we can do is seek Him daily. If each day is centered on Him, then our entire lives will become the work of Jesus. (©Catholic Stewardship Consultants)

Saint Albert’s Men
The next sessions will be after the 9:00 am Holy Mass on October 19. Men of all ages in our community are suffering from a lack of social connection, fraternity, and support in carrying out their vocations as Catholic men in today’s world.
How can we truly live in the image and WILL of God? How can we become authentic men while fulfilling our roles within our communities, families, and work?
You are invited to a Saturday morning video presentation followed by an opportunity to share and discuss the video with fellow men in our parish while enjoying coffee and donuts.
Come and join us – we look forward to meeting with you.

RCIA Sponsors Needed for this November
Our parish needs eight more sponsors to accompany those who are on the journey to become Catholic, through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Sponsors offer companionship and prayer that supports the Catechumen or Candidate through the RCIA process. You do not need to be a teacher of the faith, just a fully initiated and practicing Catholic. Many sponsors have said this role has helped them grow in their own faith. The time commitment is to attend some of the weekly Wednesday evening catechesis sessions and ultimately the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
If you think God is calling you to this ministry, please attend an information session on Oct. 26th at 10 am upstairs in Fr. Pat's Room (confession/reconciliation room), no commitment required! You can also contact Greg Yont at rcia@stalbertthegreat.ca

Discernment of Spirits & Healing: October Connect Night If you've never experienced our monthly CONNECT nights, this is a great time to start as we dive into discernment of spirits: the art of sifting through the thoughts & feelings that are inspired by God and those that are not. This is life-changing! "Not all the thoughts in your head come from you, and you shouldn't listen to them!" (Dan Burke, Spiritual Warfare & Discernment of Spirits)
Please join us on Thursday, Oct 24 at 7pm in the main body of the church, following the evening Mass. Please note we are starting the evening upstairs this month due to another function in the parish hall. Questions?

A MESSAGE FROM THE NEW CANADIAN FAMILY
With Deep Gratitude to God, Father Andrew, Father Kris and the Beloved Members of the Church
In these challenging and turbulent times, through your boundless love and unwavering support, we have constantly felt the grace and mercy of the Lord in our lives. You have acted as the hands of God for us, opening a new path towards a brighter future.
Throughout our journey of faith, we have endured many hardships. In moments when despair sought to overcome us and the paths seemed blocked, we found refuge in our trust in God.
As it is written in Psalm 37:5, "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act." We placed our faith in the Lord, and He was with us in every step. In every trial and suffering, we held onto His promise, and it was through the love and support of this wonderful church community that we were guided to a place of safety and peace.
As Philippians 4:19 says, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus." Through your kindness and help, God provided for our needs and brought us to a land where we can now live with hope and tranquility.
As it is written in Colossians 3:17, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Today, with deep gratitude, we thank you for all the kindness you have shown us, and we pray that the Lord bestows His endless blessings upon you and your families.
This journey was not easy; we faced countless challenges and pains, but your love and God’s presence sustained us. 2 Corinthians 1:4-5 tells us “God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves received from God” You were a source of comfort and strength for us, acting in God's way to help us reach this point.
For extending your hand to us and providing us with a new path, we are grateful, and we ask the Almighty God to return every step you have taken for others as infinite blessings in your lives.
Today, we stand before God with hearts full of gratitude, and we give thanks to you, the kind members of this church, who with love and sacrifice, led us to a safe destination. We pray to the Lord Almighty that, as Romans 15:13 says, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
We pray that the favor of Almighty God,and his eternal light shine in your lives and that His mercy and love accompany you in all your endeavors. As we read in 2 Corinthians 9:8, "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work”
Our deepest gratitude. We very much look forward to getting to know our new parish community. From: Clara, Camilla and Catrina

DEVELOPMENT & PEACE - Thank you for helping us reap our rights together!
In Laudate Deum, Pope Francis reminds us that “everything is connected” and “no one is saved alone” (LD, 19). This is why peasant farmers in the Global South need our solidarity to ensure that their rights are respected.
“The rights enshrined in UNDROP provide a clear pathway for peasants in countries like Nigeria to enjoy access to land, and the gifts of nature, and to live in dignity. They expect Canada to make laws to hold her companies accountable and prevent them from polluting the environments and abusing people and the planet in our country.”
― Nnimmo Bassey, Executive Director, HOMEF
