17th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
2 Kings 4: 42 - 44
Ephesians 4: 1 - 6
John 6: 1 - 15

The servant and the little boy in our readings today are excellent examples for us as Christian stewards. The servant gave the very best of what he had, and the boy gave all that he had, then God did the rest. A key component of living as a good steward is constantly evaluating our lives, particularly our relationship with God to ensure we are not just scraping by but rather giving God our entire lives. We should ask ourselves — ‘how am I giving God my time, using my talents, and sharing my treasures?’ We are called to give God adequate time each day. If we don’t plan for this time, likely, He won’t get any. We need to find what works best for us so that God can become a more significant part of our daily lives. We are also called to put our gifts and talents to good use too. The servant and the boy teach us that it is not up to us to decide how our gifts will affect others. God will do that. All we need to do is to give it well. Lastly, the servant reminds us that we are called to give the first fruits of our treasures. It is easy to give something; it is difficult to give the finest gift. Giving our best requires us to reevaluate our priorities in life. When we strive to live out our call as Christian stewards by entrusting all that we have been given to the One who graciously gave us these gifts, we will be blessed beyond measure. As we begin a new week, let us spend some time evaluating our relationship with God by asking, ‘what is my very best, and am I giving it to God?’

Fraternitas, Virtus, Integritas (Brotherhood, Virtue, Integrity)
Men of all ages in our community are suffering from a lack of social connection, fraternity, and support in carrying out their vocations as Catholic men in today’s world.
There are several groups in our parish already, and rightly so. This group aims to challenge men to get to know and support each other in leading authentically Catholic lives during these confusing times. We can all just follow the rules and attend Mass, but is that enough? How can we truly live in the image and WILL of God? How can we become authentic men while fulfilling our roles within our communities, families, and work?
You are invited to a Saturday morning video presentation followed by an opportunity to share and discuss the video with fellow men in our parish while enjoying coffee and donuts. The first session will be after the 9:00 am Holy Mass on September 14.
Come and join us – we look forward to meeting with you.

Chalice Thanks St. Albert the Great Parish
Chalice extends their heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Maruszczak and St. Albert the Great parish for hosting a Child Sponsorship Weekend on June 29-30. As a result, 15 children were sponsored, in addition to those who are usually sponsored after more time and consideration. On behalf of these children, we give thanks to God that you have revealed His love to them and have given them hope for the future! Chalice envisions a world where all children and families have the means to overcome the cycle of poverty. Please prayerfully consider a call to sponsorship, a unique way to live out your faith by providing hope for a child in need. Please visit chalice.ca or call 1-800-776-6855 for more information on our mission or to sponsor a child today.

The St. Albert the Great CWL has partnered with Canadian Blood Services to promote blood donation within our community. Join our Partners for Life team (STAL0116763).
NOTE:
The SATG Catholic Women’s League started a 2024 campaign in conjunction with Canadian Blood Services to increase awareness for the need of blood donors. As part of this campaign, we had Canadian Blood Services complete a site inspection in the hopes St. Albert the Great Parish could become a donation site. Unfortunately, the church elevator and ramp do not accommodate the movement of their equipment. Despite us not being able to be a donation site, the CWL continues to encourage all eligible parishioners, their families, and friends across Canada to make a blood or plasma donation this year. Our CWL parish team name is “St. Albert the Great Catholic Women’s League” through www.blood.ca if you wish to join our team. Our team has made 6 donations so far! There are several donation sites across the city that change based on site availability. The Acadia Recreation Complex and Southview Church in Walden are currently the closest sites to our Parish.
Thank you for your continued support!

40 Hours Devotion for Vocations
"Getting up in the middle of the night and driving to Adoration for 3 am was an amazing experience. While meditating on the actual presence of Christ right before my eyes, I was struck by how more acute and aware my senses and attention were at this dark hour," shares one parishioner during the 40 Hours Devotion for Vocations. The response to this initiative has indeed been extraordinary. Over the last month and a half, more than a thousand parishioners have come to adore Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament and pray for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.

Sunday Bulletin shorts
To the early Church, the miracle of the loaves and fishes was one of the strongest memories of Jesus’ life and ministry. The only other story to be found in all four gospels is the account of Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection. This event has been understood as both a physical and a spiritual miracle, meaning that the people generously shared of their own resources. In asking the people to share, Jesus brought out the best in the human spirit. It’s difficult to determine which is the greater miracle, the physical or the spiritual one. - What happens to people in times of scarcity (material or otherwise)?
- What happens in times of abundance?
- Recall a time that God has drawn out the best in you, to your own surprise.
- Have you ever experienced running out of necessary resources? What happened?
