SOLEMNITY OF THE HOLY TRINITY
Deuteronomy 4: 32 - 34, 39 - 40
Romans 8: 14 - 17
Matthew 28: 16 - 20
|
Today, we celebrate an essential doctrine of our Catholic faith — the Most Holy Trinity. It expresses God as three Divine Persons, unified in One Divine nature. It is a topic we could never exhaust nor fully understand until we see God face to face. Although it is incomprehensible, it is still deeply personal. Our Second Reading, from St. Paul, expresses the relationship of the three Divine Persons — Father, Son and Holy Spirit. By our Baptism, we received the Holy Spirit becoming adopted children of God. It is by the grace of the Holy Spirit that we call God, “Abba, Father!” And it is with the Holy Spirit that we can unite all of our sufferings to Christ so that we might one day rise with Him. Our relationship with God is right before us. As we became God’s adopted children, we received His endless grace. We can cry out to our Father in a moment of joy or sorrow, invite the Holy Spirit in to all that we do throughout our days, and suffer every hardship with Christ Himself. All we need to do is invoke His name in each moment. As we celebrate this glorious Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, may we praise God in word and deed and may we seek moments to encounter the Father, Son and Holy Spirit each day — through Scripture, prayer, sacraments and blessings throughout our day, as Jesus tell us, “I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

Our parish needs four women sponsors to accompany those who are on the journey to become Catholic, through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Sponsors offer companionship and prayer that supports the Catechumen or Candidate through the RCIA process. You do not need to be a teacher of the faith, just a fully initiated and practicing Catholic. Many sponsors have said this role has helped them grow in their own faith. The time commitment is to attend some of the weekly Wednesday evening catechesis sessions and ultimately the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.

Update on Parish Renewal!
You are called. You matter. You Belong. There was an amazing turnout of 150 parishioners at the Parish Renewal Gathering May 4th!
To see pictures and read about it, see our article in Faithfully here.
We heard the following feedback from those who attended the Renewal Gathering: - You enjoyed the Gathering and would like to see more events like it.
- You valued praying with scripture/Lectio Divina as a group and sharing your faith.
- You appreciated meeting parishioners you didn’t know before.
- All three pillars of the renewal resonated with you, in particular Strengthening Family Life, as you expressed your desire to form your children in the faith and your concern for family members that have fallen away.
- You long for programs for youth and young adults to learn, grow and keep their faith.
- You would like to receive more formation on the Catholic faith, the Mass, Bible Studies and how to evangelize.
Thank you for sharing your hope for the renewal with us! The Parish Renewal Team will provide a more detailed feedback report in the near future.
The next step in the Diocesan Pastoral Renewal is a PARISH SURVEY starting JUNE 1st!

The survey can be completed either online or on paper. - Please bring a portable electronic device (phone, tablet – iPad or similar, laptop, etc.) if you plan to complete the survey online.
- Don’t forget to bring a pen or pencil if you choose the paper option.

Special Note: The CWL ladies would like to thank everyone for their contributions to the Hike for Life which took place last Saturday, May 11. We appreciate those who joined us to be a public witness to LIFE because, “Every human life is precious and valuable from conception until natural death.”
Many parishioners donated their time, talent and treasure to this worthy cause. Donations are still being accepted at: Calgaryprolife.com. Look for team ”St Albert the Great”
The St. Albert the Great CWL has partnered with Canadian Blood Services to promote blood donation within our community. Join our Partners for Life team (STAL0116763).
NOTE:
The SATG Catholic Women’s League started a 2024 campaign in conjunction with Canadian Blood Services to increase awareness for the need of blood donors. As part of this campaign, we had Canadian Blood Services complete a site inspection in the hopes St. Albert the Great Parish could become a donation site. Unfortunately, the church elevator and ramp do not accommodate the movement of their equipment. Despite us not being able to be a donation site, the CWL continues to encourage all eligible parishioners, their families, and friends across Canada to make a blood or plasma donation this year. Our CWL parish team name is “St. Albert the Great Catholic Women’s League” through www.blood.ca if you wish to join our team. Our team has made 6 donations so far! There are several donation sites across the city that change based on site availability. The Acadia Recreation Complex and Southview Church in Walden are currently the closest sites to our Parish.
Thank you for your continued support!

40 Hours Devotion for Vocations
"Getting up in the middle of the night and driving to Adoration for 3 am was an amazing experience. While meditating on the actual presence of Christ right before my eyes, I was struck by how more acute and aware my senses and attention were at this dark hour," shares one parishioner during the 40 Hours Devotion for Vocations. The response to this initiative has indeed been extraordinary. Over the last month and a half, more than a thousand parishioners have come to adore Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament and pray for vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.

Sunday Bulletin shorts
Matthew illumines that our baptism into the paschal mystery of Jesus is profoundly an initiation into the intimate relationship with the life source and love of the Trinity. Jesus’ divine commission to his disciples is to both live and proclaim this Good News to the ends of the earth. - How does this reading shape your understanding of what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God?
- In what areas of your life can you better live and proclaim the love of the Trinity?
- In what ways can your community deepen its understanding of truth, and actions rooted in love to witness to the unity of God’s abiding love?

Seeking answers, finding faith Before becoming Catholic, Michelle led an ordinary, secular life, indifferent to church and God except during crises. Her family upbringing left her skeptical and independent. But somewhere in her late 30s, she began searching for the meaning of "right action" and exploring various philosophies. A chance encounter with a Miraculous Medal and a friend’s advice led her to seek answers in the Church. Newly baptized at St. Joseph's Parish, Calgary, Michelle shares an inspiring story. Read now
