Today’s
readings on this fourth Sunday of Easter offer us a glimpse into the
heart of our loving Savior. He is the Good Shepherd and we can
confidently place our trust in Him as we live the stewardship way of
life.
This endearing image of Jesus as our shepherd, and His personal love
for each one of us, is described in our Gospel passage from John,
through the words of Jesus Himself. Here we read Jesus’
description of Himself as the “Good Shepherd.” He says of
Himself, “The sheep hear his voice, as the shepherd calls his own
sheep by name and leads them out. When he has driven out all
his own, he walks ahead of them and the sheep follow him, because
they recognize his voice.”
This aspect of our Lord’s tender and personal love for each one of us
is a compelling reason to embrace the stewardship way of life — in
the offering of our time, talent, and treasure to Him, we can express
our gratitude to Him for the incomprehensible love He has for us.
Embracing this way of life certainly requires trust on our part. But
Christ has proven Himself worthy of our trust. He “bore our
sins in His body.” He calls Himself our shepherd and He offers
Himself as the guardian of our souls. He has withheld nothing
of Himself and His goodness from us. He would never ask anything
of us that would bring us harm. He tells us “I came so that [you]
might have life and have it more abundantly.”
This Easter season, let us resolve to entrust ourselves and our lives
gratefully to Him.

World Day of Vocations, also known as "Good Shepherd
Sunday." The purpose of this day is to publicly fulfill

Please pray that young men and women hear and respond
generously to the Lord's call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious
life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes. The
Diocese of Calgary also asks you to give generously for a special
collection today, to help with formation and education of our
seminarians and those in the permanent diaconate program.

PLEASE HELP US TELL THE STORY OF OUR
PARISH
A
small group of the faithful from St. Albert the Great Parish have
taken on the mission to put together some recollections and archives
going back to the very beginnings of our parish. Our history
got away from us and we think that while we’re still able, we need to
gather up our memories. We are reaching out to anyone who has
been a part of our journey for the past 25 years to help document our
past.
We’re
not exactly sure of what this is all going to look like, but all
stories and memories are important. Can you help us?
Your
participation wouldn’t involve a huge time commitment. If you
do like meetings and such, we’ve decided to gather once a month to
add past events to a giant timeline. But, another way that you
might participate is to write down your recollections…events that
stick out in your memory or that were really important to your
family. You might want to look through your boxes of photos and
contribute those or a scan of those. There are many ways that
your participation might be celebrated. Whether you walked in
the front doors of our church when they first opened 20 years ago, or
for the first time a few months ago, you are an important part of our
history and we thank you for anything you might do. If you have
something to share, please contact us at archives@stalb...

POPE'S PRAYER INTENTION FOR APRIL
2023
In
the face of the violence of our time, Pope Francis asks us to pray
‘for a more widespread culture of non-violence’. The Gospel
shows us that the life of Jesus reveals the true way of peace and
invites us to follow him. It is in this spirit that we are
called to ‘disarm’ ourselves, in the sense of ‘disarming’ our words,
our actions, our hatred. Let us pray as Pope Francis invites us
to do, so that we ‘make non-violence a guide for our actions, both in
daily life and in international relations.

Sunday
Bulletin shorts, free to use
Every
year this Fourth Sunday of Easter is “Good Shepherd Sunday.” While
Peter in Acts speaks of this salvation being for “all who the Lord
calls,” in his letter he speaks of patient endurance as that to which
“you have been called.” Here, in John’s gospel, Jesus speaks
about calling “his own sheep by name and leading them out.”
There is something unique about Jesus’ voice that calls,
something that finds resonance deep in our heart.
- With the many of voices in our modern world,
how do we tune into the sound of our Shepherd’s voice?
- How do you feel cared for by Jesus the Good
Shepherd?
- How are we called to be shepherd, after the
example of the Good Shepherd?

Diocese of Saskatoon)
- Kid's
challenge this week: Living
life to the full doesn’t mean having all the latest toys or the
coolest clothes or the biggest house. We are called to be the
best person that we can be, living our lives well and having the
chance to use all our gifts and talents for the good of all.
This week, think about the gifts and talents you have. What are
you good at? Do you always make the most of the gifts that you
have? Do you always try to be the best person you can
be? (CAFOD)

Pope
Francis: Lay ministers must serve and never become self-referential
Pope
Francis addresses participants in Plenary Assembly of the Dicastery
for Laity, Family and Life and reflects on the meaning of
ministeriality in the Church and on the role of laypeople which must
be focused on mission and service. All these ministries, services,
assignments and offices, the Pope emphasized, “must never become
self-referential” and have two fundamental things in common:
"Mission and service", because they "are an
expression of the one mission of the Church and all are forms of
service to others”. Read more
