We
begin this Holy Week with the reading of the Lord’s Passion from the
Gospel of Matthew. It is fitting that during this week we
intensely focus our minds and hearts on the steps of our Savior as He
laid down His very life for us. But let us also examine the
seemingly small acts of stewardship by some who encountered Jesus
during this most eventful week.
One occurred when Jesus gave instructions about the room where He
would celebrate the Passover. Jesus said, “Go into the city to
a certain man and tell him…” ‘In your house I shall celebrate the
Passover with my disciples.’” While we do not know this man’s
name, we do know he agreed to this request — he shared the material
gift of his home and the gift of hospitality. Because of his
good stewardship, his own home became the site of the institution of
the Eucharist!
There was also Simon the Cyrenian, who offered the gift of his
physical strength, helping the Lord to carry His Cross.
Consider, too, the actions of Joseph of Arimathea — he generously shared
a material gift of the tomb that was his, and he gave the gift of
service to our Lord by giving Him a proper burial. Then there
were the "two Marys” who gave Jesus the gift of their
time. Keeping watch in tender vigil after His death, they
“remained sitting there, facing the tomb.”
Each of these were simple acts of good stewardship, yet God used them
in mighty ways. God invites each of us, too, to cooperate with
Him in small ways through the sharing of our time, talent, and
material gifts. Small gifts can become mighty deeds when placed
in God’s service.

RCIA EASTER VIGIL CHAMPAGNE
RECEPTION
We
are approaching the holiest night of the liturgical year – Easter
Vigil on Saturday, April 8th at 8 pm. This is the night we hear
the story of our salvation and celebrate the Resurrection of our
Lord. It is a beautiful celebration that begins in darkness
while outside, we light the Easter candle and process in to the
church. During the Vigil we welcome those individuals who,
through RCIA, are joining our faith.
Following
the Vigil there will be a reception downstairs to celebrate with our
newly confirmed parishioners with a glass of bubbly. Yes
it will be a late, but wonderful, night!

return them this weekend April 1 and 2 after each Mass, where
we will have CWL members in the Narthex.
The
proceeds this year are going to:
- St.
Vincent de Paul where we have
partnered to create a program exclusive for baby supplies such
as diapers, formula, etc.
- Kara program’s
St. Annes Pantry – assisting pregnant
and parenting female and male students
- Other

PLEASE HELP US TELL THE STORY OF OUR
PARISH
A
small group of the faithful from St. Albert the Great Parish have
taken on the mission to put together some recollections and archives
going back to the very beginnings of our parish. Our history
got away from us and we think that while we’re still able, we need to
gather up our memories. We are reaching out to anyone who has
been a part of our journey for the past 25 years to help document our
past.
We’re
not exactly sure of what this is all going to look like, but all
stories and memories are important. Can you help us?
Your
participation wouldn’t involve a huge time commitment. If you
do like meetings and such, we’ve decided to gather once a month to
add past events to a giant timeline. But, another way that you
might participate is to write down your recollections…events that
stick out in your memory or that were really important to your
family. You might want to look through your boxes of photos and
contribute those or a scan of those. There are many ways that
your participation might be celebrated. Whether you walked in
the front doors of our church when they first opened 20 years ago, or
for the first time a few months ago, you are an important part of our
history and we thank you for anything you might do. If you have
something to share, please contact us at archives@stalb...

The
stories of transformation of the past three Sundays – the woman at
the well, the healing of the blind man, and the raising of Lazarus –
now culminate in the final act of transformation in the Son of
God. Everything is upside-down: the One without sin feels total
abandonment and suffers an innocent death. The God who
surprised us in Bethlehem again surprises us at the cross.
Everything seems
an utter failure, yet everything has been transformed forever.
- How does Jesus' journey to the cross speak to you this year?
- When have you felt like an utter failure, and only later
discovered the transforming effect of the experience?
- In what ways will you walk with this Gospel during Holy Week?
(Source: Diocese of Saskatoon)
Kid's challenge this week: Today we hear how crowds of people welcomed Jesus into
Jerusalem shortly before he was crucified. We have palms to remind us
of how the people cut branches and laid them in the road before him
as they shouted with joy. God made all of us. Jesus is in all
of us. So everytime we meet someone and we welcome them with
respect, love and kindness, we are welcoming Jesus. This week,
let’s try to welcome all people as we would welcome Jesus.

time in our country. He has distilled his own reflections into ten
key messages which he will present and discuss with us. Please
join us at St. Peter's Parish, 541 Silvergrove Drive NW, Calgary on
Saturday, April 15th as we walk together on the journey of healing,
truth-telling and reconciliation. Bishop McGrattan will
