At
this point in our Lenten journey, it is tempting to grow weary of the
spiritual disciplines we have taken on. Today’s readings
inspire us to remain faithful, in grateful response to a God who
loves us so much.
In our first reading, the prophet Ezekiel speaks God’s own words to
us. “I will put my spirit in you that you may live… I have
promised and I will do it, says the Lord.” Our God wants to be
so closely united to us that we are one with Him. And He has
promised He will do it. But only if we make room for Him by
making Him THE priority of our lives. Putting God first is a
grateful response that is very pleasing to Him.
How can we do this? Our second reading, from Romans, tells us.
“Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not
in the flesh… you are in the spirit if only the Spirit of God dwells
in you.”
The disciplines of Lent and a stewardship way of life are wonderful
gifts that free us from too great an attachment to “the flesh.”
The sacrifices we make as Christian stewards are not meant to
restrict our freedom and joy. Quite the contrary. They are
tools to help us find the real freedom and joy that only come when we
make room in our lives for God.
As we journey closer to the Passion of our Lord, let us intensify our
Lenten resolutions and our stewardship way of life, inviting the Holy
Spirit to take over more and more of our lives. By Easter, we
will be freer to rejoice in Him and truly pleasing to God.

return them this weekend March 25 and 26 after each Mass, where we
will have CWL members in the Narthex.
The
proceeds this year are going to:

you’ve never played this game but love cards, we will help you

PLEASE HELP US TELL THE STORY OF OUR
PARISH
A
small group of the faithful from St. Albert the Great Parish have
taken on the mission to put together some recollections and archives
going back to the very beginnings of our parish. Our history
got away from us and we think that while we’re still able, we need to
gather up our memories. We are reaching out to anyone who has
been a part of our journey for the past 25 years to help document our
past.
We’re
not exactly sure of what this is all going to look like, but all
stories and memories are important. Can you help us?
Your
participation wouldn’t involve a huge time commitment. If you
do like meetings and such, we’ve decided to gather once a month to
add past events to a giant timeline. But, another way that you
might participate is to write down your recollections…events that
stick out in your memory or that were really important to your
family. You might want to look through your boxes of photos and
contribute those or a scan of those. There are many ways that
your participation might be celebrated. Whether you walked in
the front doors of our church when they first opened 20 years ago, or
for the first time a few months ago, you are an important part of our
history and we thank you for anything you might do. If you have
something to share, please contact us at archives@stalb...

COMING ALIVE CAMP - VOLUNTEERS
REQUIRED
Coming
Alive Camp is looking for adult volunteers for July 17-21. This camp
geared toward students entering grades 1-6, running from 8:45 am to 1
pm each day of the week. Children take part in morning song and
prayer, craft, a faith-based lesson, recreation time outside (or
inside if weather does not permit), a snack and Mass.
The
camp is entirely volunteer run and we are in need of more adult
volunteers. Some of the perks of volunteering for Coming Alive Camp
include guaranteed registration and a reduced fee for your children
at camp. Children who are not yet old enough for camp (newborn
to kindergarten age) can join our cherubs group ($20 per child for
the week), Children entering grades 1 to 6 in September can be
campers ($40 per child for the week). We are looking for a few
people to help with recreation, snack preparation and as adult
leaders. Please let Liisa know at ComingAliveCam...
if you would like more information and / or are interested in
volunteering.

Approaching
the end of his own journey, Jesus, in raising Lazarus, dramatically
establishes his power over death, leading to a radical
reinterpretation of what life and death are really about. As on
the previous two Sundays, this Gospel accompanies a “Scrutiny” for
the candidates for baptism, the last of three. Each Gospel
connected to the three RCIA Scrutinies (The Woman at the Well, The
Man Born Blind, and this week The Raising of Lazarus) is full of
paradox and drama. The characters in each of these Gospel
stories undergoes significant changes. These are not simply
changes that have happened to people in the past – the stories also
capture the changes that are happening in those being prepared to
receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
- What part of the story of Lazarus speaks to you most strongly
today?
- Have you ever experienced dramatic changes in your faith, as
if moving from death to life?
- What part of our own vision for life or for the Church needs
to be revived?
- Who do you identify with in this story at this moment in your
life: the disciples, Mary, Martha, Jesus, Lazarus, the crowd?
(Source: Diocese of Saskatoon)
Kid's challenge this week: Today we hear about an amazing thing that Jesus does
when his friend Lazarus becomes sick and dies. Jesus tells
Lazarus to come out of the tomb. Lazarus walks out. He is
brought back to life. God gives life to us all. God created us
and wants every single one of us to live a happy life, with all the
things that we need to grow and be the best people we can be.
This week, say a special prayer for all people who are sick
throughout the world, that they may get the care and help that they
need and find strength in the love of those around them.

Together: Bishop McGrattan’s reflections on Pope Francis’
pilgrimage to Canada
On
His pilgrimage to Canada in July of 2022, the Holy Father engaged
with the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples in a very direct and
intimate manner, offering his apology and learning from each
encounter. Bishop McGrattan was instrumental in the
preparations for the visit and accompanied the Holy Father during his
time in our country. He has distilled his own reflections into ten
key messages which he will present and discuss with us. Please
join us at St. Peter's Parish, 541 Silvergrove Drive NW, Calgary on
Saturday, April 15th as we walk together on the journey of healing,
truth-telling and reconciliation. Bishop McGrattan will
celebrate the 8:30 am Mass, followed by his presentation.
